10th January 1955

School reopened after the Christmas holiday.   Mr. L. Short joined the permanent staff. Engineering course 13-16 years began.

11th January 1955

Hygiene and Vaccination inspection took place.

13th January 1955

I left the school with Miss Ward at 2.30pm to attend a meeting of Heads at the Woking Boys’ Grammar School re: Common Entrance Examination procedure (25/1/55).

14th January 1955

A depleted attendance due to a heavy snow fall.  I closed the school at 3.30pm.

18th January 1955

Mr. Hobbis gave football coaching to Senior and Junior XI’s.

19th January 1955

Mr. Salmon absent attending a meeting at Glyn House.

Vaccination testing at 1.30pm.  Mr. Salmon absent attending a meeting at Glynn House.

Interviews for Easter Leavers (girls).    I left the school at 2.40pm to attend a Heads’ meeting at Woking Grammar School.   The school closed until 23rd February for the half term holiday.

At 4.30pm Mr. cave and I visited the Engineering firms of Taylor and Thompson at Byfleet (in connection with the recently started engineering course in the school).

Mr. Higgins, County Inspector, visited and saw some school work – maths.

Miss Monkham and Miss Bradfield visited the school and interview the cook-caterer, Mrs. Shepherd.

1st March 1955

A medical Examination for summer leavers took place 1.30pm – 3.45pm.   Mr. Jarvis, County inspector, called re: Thurlow.   Reginald Taylor, having been awarded his county football cap played for Surrey v. < blank > with floodlit match on the Crystal Palace ground this evening.

4th March 1955

A meeting of the Lower School was held at 2.55pm in the hall to form clubs operating during period 7 on Fridays, e.g. Recorders, Dancing, Needlework, Art, Literary Appreciation, chess, Gardening and Nature Studies.

7th March 1955

A party of senior girls visited the Boys’ Grammar School, Woking, for a performance of “Saint Joan”.   Mr. Cave and I visited Weyman’s Addlestone in connection with the school engineering course.   Miss Osborn absent for interview.

8th March 1955

A party of 22 senior boys visited the Ford Works, Dagenham.  I left school at 3pm to attend a Heads’ meeting in the West Byfleet C.P. School.

Mr. Cave visited Bisley School for the morning to see their metal work shop.

A governors meeting was held in this school at 2.30pm.

A party of girls attend the netball rally, with Miss Wincott of Whiteleaf school – on Saturday last (19th March 1955).

I was entertained to lunch by form Via in Room 12 at 12.30am.

Reginald Taylor has been selected to play Surrey v. Somerset at Clevendon on 2nd April and Middlesex at Hayes on 7th April.

I left the school at 3.15om to attend the Netball Trophies presentation at Sheerwater C.S.S.

24th March 1955

School closed the am for the Common Entrance Exam for 88 candidates.

Miss Temple, H.M.I. and Mrs. Stone (B.Sc) visited this pm to inspect and discuss the Domestic Science at the school.
