10^thJanuary 1955	School reopened after the Christmas holiday. Mr. L. Short joined the permanent staff. Engineering course 13-16 years began.
11^th January 1955	Hygiene and Vaccination inspection took place.
13^th January 1955	I left the school with Miss Ward at 2.30pm to attend a meeting of Heads at the Woking Boys’ Grammar School re: Common Entrance Examination procedure (25/1/55).
14^th January 1955	A depleted attendance due to a heavy snow fall. I closed the school at 3.30pm.
18^th January 1955	Mr. Hobbis gave football coaching to Senior and Junior XI’s.
19^th January 1955	Mr. Salmon absent attending a meeting at Glyn House.
24^th January 1955	Vaccination testing at 1.30pm. Mr. Salmon absent attending a meeting at Glynn House.
25^th January 1955	School closed for Common Entrance Examination but Miss Osborn resumed duties for marking.
26^th January 1955	Mr. Penn absent attending a one-day gardening course.
27^th January 1955	Reading and Vaccination tests at 1.30pm.
1^st February 1955	Art and Movement students began a six weeks practice (Tues and Weds AM).
3^rd February 1955	Talk to the summer leavers by the I.R.O.
10^th February 1955	Mr. Higgins, County Inspector, visited the school. Thurlow visited the Army Operation Research Group.
14^th February 1955	Mr. Allison absent (pm) attending interview – Institute of Education – London University.
15^th February 1955	Interviews for Easter Leavers (boys)
16^th February 1955	Interviews for Easter Leavers (girls). I left the school at 2.40pm to attend a Heads’ meeting at Woking Grammar School. The school closed until 23^rd February for the half term holiday.
19^th February 1955	Piano tuned.
23^rd February 1955	A party of 29 senior girls visited Lyons, Cadly Hall.
24^th February 1955	At 4.30pm Mr. cave and I visited the Engineering firms of Taylor and Thompson at Byfleet (in connection with the recently started engineering course in the school).
25^th February 1955	Mr. Higgins, County Inspector, visited and saw some school work – maths.
28^th February 1955	Miss Monkham and Miss Bradfield visited the school and interview the cook-caterer, Mrs. Shepherd.
1^st March 1955	A medical Examination for summer leavers took place 1.30pm – 3.45pm. Mr. Jarvis, County inspector, called re: Thurlow. Reginald Taylor, having been awarded his county football cap played for Surrey v. < blank > with floodlit match on the Crystal Palace ground this evening.
4^th March 1955	A meeting of the Lower School was held at 2.55pm in the hall to form clubs operating during period 7 on Fridays, e.g. Recorders, Dancing, Needlework, Art, Literary Appreciation, chess, Gardening and Nature Studies.
7^th March 1955	A party of senior girls visited the Boys’ Grammar School, Woking, for a performance of “Saint Joan”. Mr. Cave and I visited Weyman’s Addlestone in connection with the school engineering course. Miss Osborn absent for interview.
8^th March 1955	A party of 22 senior boys visited the Ford Works, Dagenham. I left school at 3pm to attend a Heads’ meeting in the West Byfleet C.P. School.
9^th March 1955	Mr. Cave visited Bisley School for the morning to see their metal work shop. A governors meeting was held in this school at 2.30pm.
16^th March 1955	Mr. Penn absent attending a Gardening Course.
17^th March 1955	Mr. Cave, Mr. Semple and I visited Weybridge Autos at 3.45pm in connection with the Engineering Course.
21^st March 1955	A party of girls attend the netball rally, with Miss Wincott of Whiteleaf school – on Saturday last (19^th March 1955).
22^nd March 1955	I was entertained to lunch by form Via in Room 12 at 12.30am. Reginald Taylor has been selected to play Surrey v. Somerset at Clevendon on 2^nd April and Middlesex at Hayes on 7^th April.
23^rd March 1955	I left the school at 3.15om to attend the Netball Trophies presentation at Sheerwater C.S.S.
24^th March 1955	School closed the am for the Common Entrance Exam for 88 candidates. Mr. Cave visited the Queens Co. School for boys- Engineering. Miss Parnell visited Northmead Girls C.S.S – Science. Miss Temple, H.M.I. and Mrs. Stone (B.Sc) visited this pm to inspect and discuss the Domestic Science at the school. Miss Osborn absent attending interview (pm)
25^th March 1955	Miss Osborn absent attending interview am. A lecture to the upper school on “Scotland” illustrated by slides was given at 3pm by Sir James Stirling Ross, KBE,C.B.
28^th March 1955	Miss Osborn absent (interview). Mrs. Jenkins visited re: her work here next term.
30^th March 1955	The Head of Ottershaw School visited (am). The school choir participated in the Woking Music Festival this pm.
31^st March 1955	Miss Osborn absent – medical examination. Woking District Music Festival (a) “All in the April Evening” Hugh Robertson (b) “Betty Bother” P. Wilkinson (b) -Excellently gay and rhythmical - particularly superb. Tone very plenty quality. - start could have been softer - change of tempo excellently managed and most effective (a) – tone inclined to harder at ring - song sounded rather driven along – was inclined to be syllabic - could be more plastic - parts well maintained and balance - effective ending James Davies 1955
31^st march 1955	At 2pm Miss Ward and I met the parents of the Easter intake.
5^th April 1955	A leavers’ Party was held 4.30pm – 8.30pm.
6^th April 1955	Miss Osborn (temporary) and Mr. Garnham (supply) ceased duties here today. The school closed for the Easter holidays until Monday 25^th April. During holiday – Saturday 23^rd April a party to Wembley – Schoolboys International Football.
25^th April 1955	School reopened after Easter holiday. Mrs. Jenkins began duties as supply teacher. During the holiday, wall and beam were fitted in the hall.
26^th April 1955	Hygiene inspection held at 9.30am.
29^th April 1955	B.C.G. tests this A.M.
2^nd May 1955	B.C.G. tests this A.M. Messrs. Emerson and Dale, Shoreditch T.C. students commenced teaching practice. Staff meeting at 3.45pm.
5^th May 1955	Meeting of parents re: Engineering course 7.15 – 10.00pm.
6^th May 1955	A lecture “The History of Knitting” (Int. Wool Secretariat) at 111am. A square Dancing Party (Dancing Club) at 3.45pm.
9^th May 1955	Mr. Cave visited Guildford Junior Technical school this pm. A meeting of the jumble sale sub-committee at 3.45pm.
16^th May 1955	Separate Catholic Services, conducted by Mr. Short began today.
22^nd May 1955	House meetings at 2.50pm.
24^th May 1955	IIa girls visited the Ideal Home Exhibition at Guildford.
25th May 1955	Talks to “Xmas Leavers" AM. Woking and District School Sports 1955 The school was closed for the Woking and District school sports in the afternoon held at Kingfield. The trophies were presented by Mr. G. W. Nankeville The school scored 1 firsts, 2 seconds and 3 thirds, and was not placed on the trophies.

26^th May 1955	School closed all day – Election day.
27^th May 1955	School closed for the Whitsuntide Holidays.
6^th June 1955	School reopened after the Whitsun holiday. 13+ interviews took place, beginning today and ending on Thursday 23^rd June. A staff meeting was held at 3.45pm after which I attended the official opening of the Byfleet County Primary School.
9^th June 1955	Staffing interviews at 2.30pm. Miss Philips, Mr. Gillespie, Mr. Williams were appointed from 1/9/55. A sub staff meeting held to select the Engineering Course boys for the year 1955-6.
16^th June 1955	A part of VB boys and the 15+ Engineering Group visited Weymans Ltd this pm.
20^th June 1955	A few children immunisation tested – pm.
21^st June 1955	Mrs Boram, a teacher from Sweden, visited this A.M.
27^th June 1955	Mr. Cave visited Kingston Techn. School (pm). I attended the Cadet Parade at Sheerwater C.S.S. this PM.
28^th June 1955	Messrs. Lark and Semple took a part of 39 boys on a visit to the Portsmouth Dockyard. Interviews for the “five” summer leavers held the AM.
29^th June 1955	A jumble sale held at 3pm raised £23-9-3d for the school sports fund.
30^th June 1955	I attended Governor’s meeting at Fullbrook CSS at 2.30om and a meeting of Heads at Brooklands Tech. College at 3.00pm.
4^th July 1955	Jennifer Rose began a fortnights observation.
5^th and 6^th July 1953	15 assessors dealt with Common Entrance papers.
6^th July 1955	A meeting of parents (Engineering Course) held at 7.15pm.
7^th July 1955	Inter House Sports Meeting held at 1.45pm
8^th July 1955	A meeting of the Leavers’ party sub-committee held at 3.45pm.
11^th July 1955	Woking and District Schools’ Swimming Gala (pm). Only one major result: Breast stroke – girls 11-13 yrs – 2^nd Dover
12^th July 1955	I was guest of Via to lunch in Room 12.
13^th July 1955	The school closed for Parish Day.
19^th July 1955	A prize giving ceremony held today at 2.30pm. Chairman: Rev Meek. A.W. Stollery, Esq, Chairman of the Governors presented the prizes.
20^th July 1955	A leavers party was held 4.30pm to 9pm.
21^st July 1955	Meeting of September parents at 2.30pm.
22^nd July 1955	The school closed today until 1^st September for the summer holidays. Mrs. Nash and Mr. Brown cease duties here. Also Mrs. Jenkins who has been here on terms supply work.
1^st September 1955	School reopened. Miss Phillips and Messrs. Gillespie and Williams commenced duties. Miss Mills commenced teaching practice.

9^th September 1955	B.C.G. Vaccinations held at 1.30. I shall be absent next week attending a course at Glyn House. Miss Joan Ward will be in charge.
12^th September 1955	I, Joan Ward, deputy Head, am in charge of the school in the absence of Mr. Goodger, who is attending a course. B.C.G. vaccinations held at 1.30pm.
13^th September 1955	Miss Mills’ teaching practice finished today.
9^th September 1955	Mr. Goodger resumes…. I gave a talk to the Byfleet Parents Association.
14^th September 1955	A meeting of the Parents (Engineering Course Boys) was held at 7.30pm.
19^th September 1955	I resumed duties today. Mr. Hollister began teaching practice.
20^th September 1955	A medical exam held all day.
22^nd September 1955	A mobile nursing Exhibition visited the school (AM) 4^th year girls from Knaphill, Monument Hill and Chobham Sec. Schools visited as did those from this school.
26^th September 1955	Meeting for selection of possible G.C.E. candidates.
27^th September 1955	New class libraries issued.
28^th September 1955	I left the school at 2pm to attend a meeting of the governors at Sheerwater CSS at 2.15pm.
30^th September 1955	Fire Drill held.
31^st October 1955	A staff meeting was held at 3.45pm.
4^th October 1955	Interview for Xmas leavers.
6^th October 1955	Miss Pope, County PE Officer, called to discuss the introduction of hockey into the school timetable.
7^th October 1955	Mrs. Alexander has been on the supply here since 5/10/55.
10^th October 1955	A mathematical Society was formed here today (Mr. Short).
13^th October 1955	Form Via visited Guildford Rep. Theatres Production of “As you like it”.
17^th October 1955	Mr. Guppy absent the AM for medical examination.
19^th October 1955	B.C.G. vaccinations this AM. Notifications received of Governors specially interest in this school. - Rev A.J. Costin, Messrs. J.H. Cook and J.W. Jones.
19^th October 1955	A party of fifty visited the Woking School concert this AM (Miss Ward and Mr. Short).
20^th October 1955	A United Nations Day Service held this morning. The Rev. A.J. Costin read the prayers. Mr. Lark gave the address. School closed today for half term holiday until Monday 31^st October.
31^st October 1955	School reopened after the autumn holiday.
1^st November 1955	Mr. Cave visited Lynton Lance CS. School this A.M.
3^rd November 1955	P.C. Walter gave a talk on Safety First and inspected all bicycles.
4^th November 1955	A party of VIth form boys visited the Science Museum.
7^th November 1955	A medical examination was held this afternoon. Staff meeting at 3.45pm. A holiday party to Switzerland arranged.
9^th November 1955	Mr. R. Gillespie was today interviewed by the Chairman of the School Governors concerning his work.
10^th November 1955	Mr. Gillespie left the premises at 11.15am.
11^th November 1955	Mr. Gillespie handed in his resignation to the DEO today. This was accepted by the Governors. Mrs. Robertson, the School Secretary left today because of a pending operation another reaching the age of retirement.
14^th November 1955	Mrs. D.M. Blanshand commenced duties as School Secretary. Mr. Higgins AM. Dr. Marston this PM. Lt. Winter Bottom gave a lecture on “The Royal Navy” to all fourth year boys.
17^th November 1955	A dental inspection was held (all day).
22^nd November 1955	Talks to Easter leavers (am).
24^th November 1955	Dental Inspection (all day).
25^th November 1955	A school party attended the Netball Rally at Wimbledon.
30^th November 1955	Mr. Barker and Mr. Duckett of Vickers, Miss Newcombe Y.E.O. and Mr. Loveday of Addlestone School inspected the Engineering Course at my invitation.
1^st December 1955	A hobbies exhibition was held this morning.
2^nd December 1955	A governors meeting was held this morning.
6^th December 1955	A meeting of the sub-committee of Governors was held at 2.30pm.
15^th December 1955	Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held in the Church of St. Johns, West Byfleet at 6.30pm.
16^th December 1955	B.C.G. testing took part this A.M.
19^th December 1955	Talk on “Dangerous Missiles” given at 9.30AM.
20^th December 1955	Leavers party at 4.30pm – 8.30pm.
21^st December 1955	The school closed today until 9^th January 1956 for the Christmas holiday.
